Man Saves Stray Kitten Then Realizes She Isn’t What She Seems

Jared Allen Yost, a resident from Minnesota rescued a “stray” kitten when he heard a kitten crying in a car. Because he is an animal lover, he didn’t hesitate to take a closer look and saved the cat.
With no mother and the bad weather, he brought her home and fed her, not realizing that she was not just a stray cat. Yost began to notice that there was something a little off about this cat. She kept making a loud sound not like a normal meow.
He began to suspect it was not a house cat and contacted Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota. The “stray kitten” was actually a bobcat. Yost brought her to the rehab center to get the help she needed. Normally, they would do a quick health check on the animal and have the finder return it back to where it was found to hopefully be reunited. Any orphaned wild animal should go to a licensed rehabber as soon as possible.
Though Yost’s time with the little bobcat was brief, he’s happy to have had the chance to help her. She will spend a few days stabilizing at center then the staffs will transfer her to another rehabber who works with bobcats. She will eventually return to the wild.

Yost didn’t realize that she was not just a stray cat.

She kept making a loud sound — “Not like a normal ‘meow,’” Yost said.

He began to suspect it was not a domestic breed.

The “stray kitten” was actually a bobcat.

The baby bobcat lost her mother, but under expert care, she is being raised to retain her wild instincts in hopes that she will one day be set free.

The kitten appears to be in good health but was dehydrated.

She will eventually return to the wild.
